Jessie Cowie Bowie

Post by Labratus » Mon May 09, 2011 2:54 pm

Good afternoon all,

I am trying to find any information on my granny Jessie Cowie Bowie who died in 1945 in Aberdeen and her husband George Francis Stewart who died in 1958 Aberdeen. I have all the BMD details from scotlands people but are looking for any one who may have further information about them

Many thanks

Sandy Stewart

Hello Sandy and welcome to Talking Scot! :D
Where and when were they born? I assume they were born early enough to appear on the accessible census records-- do you have these?

All the best,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I have copies of all the births, deaths and marriage for both as well as some details from the electoral rolls. As my dad was brought up by the state when his mother died we have nothing on his parents except the offical paperwork. I have been looking for other living family (cousins) to attempt to get some details for this couple. I have found some of my dad's cousins but none of them or there decendants have any posts on any of the genealogy sites i've been on that I can find. So I have resorted to try and locate neighbours, family friends or associates who may have known them. Both were born and died in Aberdeen.

Hi Sandy,
Ah, I see that they were born too late to mention on the public forum, according to our guidelines. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6601

If anyone has any information on these people, please communicate with Sandy by private message.

Sandy, if you need help going backwards with this family, then you could post the details of your great grandparents from your grandparents' marriage and death certificates and there will be many who will jump to the challenge :D

Best wishes,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Thanks but I don't need help going backwards as I have already got my line back to the 1700's using scotlands people and other sources.
I only posted the information as I used the 1960 deadline for deceased relatives and both my grandparents had died before 1960. As I had previously stated I am not looking for official records but individuals who may have knew them since I have already exhausted other genealogy sites.

Thanks again and have a good evening.

Sandy

Greetings from New Zealand.

May I suggest you have a look for published School Class photos. Many sites now specialize in these, and also local Genealogy, and Community of Interest Heritage groups, delight in publishing the old photos, and if you are lucky, class mate names have been mentioned. Normally some in the [class photo &] community go on to run family business etc that can be found in current published "white papers" and then net work from there. It might take a few phone calls or emails, but you don't know until you have tried.
