The Deaths Of the Allison Children

i have now found all the death of the allison children belonging to walter allisona and margaret mcfarlane, accept i couldnt their daughter margaret cause she went to canada so i have moved on to the next load

all these children are from william allison and margaret docherty he died in 1876 and she died in 1869 and they were married in 1854

most of these children i think were born in lochminnoch in renfrew but i cant find their death certs i would think the majority of them would have died in glasgow. dont think there was another child between mathew and isabella im not totally sure. i ave no idea if or when they got married but it would really help me out.

  JOHN ALLISON - Birth: 07 JUN 1859 Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire
  MATTHEW ALLISON - Birth: 23 NOV 1861 Hutchesontown, Glasgow, Lanarkshire
  ISABELLA GILMOUR ALLISON - Birth: 03 JAN 1866 Hutchesontown, Glasgow, Lanarkshire
  WILLIAM ALLISON - Birth: 29 DEC 1867 Hutchesontown, Glasgow, Lanarkshire

On ScotlandsPeople, you should get the OPR baptism record for Walter, and the birth certificates for the 5 births from 1855 onwards.

You should trace them through the censuses to see if they all survived to at least an adult age. According to Ancestry's transcription of the 1861 children, the 3 children born by then were all still living. If any of them are missing from the household before their teenage years, a search for a death certificate is worthwhile. Do you know where they were for the 1871 census?

This Margaret (Doherty) Docherty Allison was born in County Derry, Ireland as was the boarder Rachel Docherty. If you go to the IGI and do a parent search you will get names of six children--those on your list plus Walter. Walter and John appear to marry and still be around Glasgow in 1901. Can't help you with the SP searches. I'm over budget and out of credits for a couple more weeks!

And another sibling died in his late 40s, having only married 3 years before his death.

His, John's, three younger siblings departed this mortal coil at the ages of 2 (whooping cough), 6 months (whooping cough), and 7 months (diarrhea).

What happened to Jane [Docherty] ALLISON, b. 1856 is as yet not clear.

:O so mathew isabella and william all died at a very young age and john appears to be the only one married as is walter ovbiously. what happened to jane. thanks carol thats defo them perhaps rachel was her sister as i find it funny that there are two women with the same name and they came from the same place and there is only a two year gap between them. what has happened to jane then?

Andrew the whole family i think have stayed in Huchesontown since 1851 i think so i would put my bet on that because walter his son is ther in 81,91,01 and then in 1911 he moves to govanhill, so the family have stayed there for good while

• Matthew (with 2 T's) is definitely there in 1863.
• All the others are in Hutchesontown, so that is where to look for William first.

thanks Andrew i got him, i was looking for a matthew with one T. i dont think that is her Carol, i looked on SP but i didnt go into it as i have no credits but i did type in jane allison and charles harkins but nothing came up and then i done jane docherty and charles harkins and it had one match between 1875-1881. where can she be
