Jolly family Arbuthnott

Post by Una Melville » Tue Jun 07, 2011 6:05 am

I'm looking for background on the Jolly family in Arbuthnott. My gt grandmother was Margaret Jolly, b 25.10.1804, Arbuthnott. She married Donald Melville in Aberdeen, 23.6.1827. Their son Francis Jolly Melville was b c1849 in Aberdeen. It is possible Margaret's father was William Jolly, b 30.5.1757, Arbuthnott.
Any information gratefully received. Una

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply. I think Margaret Jolly's parents were William and Margaret Jolly nee Inglis but I have one document where one of her sons called his grandfather James. Everyone in that generation is dead so there is no one to ask. I'm interested in find the records to Old Machar Cathedral, Aberdeen. Could anyone get married in the Cathedral? Una
