Faces of the First World War - Imperial War Museum

Post by Rockford » Fri Nov 11, 2011 8:23 pm

Hi,

I came across a post on Rootschat tonight from a poster called Seoras outlining a project that the IWM are running to put online photographs they hold of individuals who served in WWI. The first 100 'faces' have gone up today and apparently more will be added between now and 2014. They were collected by the IWM following a public appeal between 1917 and 1920.

The link to the rootschat post is here:

The link to the Flickr site where you can see the photos is here:

The link to the IWM's own WWI centenary page (with more details of the project) is here:

Best wishes

Hello Brian,

Thanks for that, it’s a great project. I hope the end date is when they have uploaded every photograph they have rather than August 2014.

It looks like you have to use Google to find them although a site search will narrow things down. http://www.google.com.au/search?q=%22k+ ... afe=images

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a photo of a single one of my lot killed WW1.

All the best,
Alan
