Hi,
Is there anyone who could do a look-up please for the deaths of Samuel Mitchell Dow b 02 Sep 1786 & his wife Ann Anderson b 19 Nov 1787 both Edinburgh, Midlothian. I have been unable to track them on 1841 census.

I had a look on SP and there are two Samuel Dow's who die in Edinburgh prior to 1841 Census
Samuel Dow D 25/11/1810 St Cuthberts Edinburgh
Samuel Dow D 16/1/1837 St Cuthberts Edinburgh
I didn't have the credits to look at the images, I will leave that pleasure to you.

I noticed a found an Ann Dow other surname: Anderson
also in Edinburgh, later half of 1836.
but like Stew I'm creditless.
She might be worth following up first.
There used to be a site with MI records for Edinburgh - but I can't seem to find it anymore

It was Scotsfind I was thinking of - it seems to have vanished,
and the archive type websites are having problems with it too.
I'm on a new PC and my favourite lists are still on the old one for now - so I'm struggling!

Ah yes, it seems to be down for some reason but it was only a few weeks ago I found it when I googled one of my long losts looking for marriage, death and apprentice records...didn't save the actual link.
Just found this link from an old post on RC with a link to the burials at St. Cuthberts http://waeve.co.uk/genealogy/sourcefile ... emetry.pdf ...no Samuel Dow that I see (a few other Dow's though).

It doesn't come up with all of the specific names I enter when using the 'Find' button even though I know some of mine are there so I don't know if there are any Samuel Dow's.

Much thanks and appreciation to all who contributed dates & links (very useful) as any links for family tree sites are welcomed by all roothunters.
I have quickly established that Samuel Mitchell Dow would have died 16 Jan 1837 as he had 2 kids born 1820 & 1834 although there may be more who I haven't found yet. The date for Ann (Anderson) Dow seems non negotiable too so thanks to the contributors.
My apologies for not getting back sooner. I thought like other sites I've been on, I would receive an email whenever there was a reply posted but I didn't. Not sure if the site does that but I will check it out as it was only because I may have another query that I looked back here.

Anne, TS does send out emails of new replies to topics, check your profile.
It should be under' Edit posting defaults' on the user control panel top left of the page.
Did you find the OPR records of the 2 deaths?
and did they give you any further information on the couple?

I will look up OPR's tomorrow as I've been doing a different line & hate chopping and changing when I'm on a roll as it were.
Incidently, this line is Midlothian too so that's why I came back to the site tonight, to see if anyone had postings with the other name I'm searching, to maybe form a link but to no avail. Still a few look-ups to do before I might have to post something else.
It's always good if you can get a connection to trade info. as it saves not only time but money too.
