Hi All,
Iam new to this group and would appreciate some help to solve my brick wall.

Children

Mary b1840
John B 1842
Helen B 1846
Alexander b 1851
Andrew B 1852.
Andrew m Elizabeth Woodhead 1876 I can follow him thru he is my Great Grandfather.
Helen Ramsay died in 1868 she was a widow son John was a witness and was as being from Heartshill Shotts.
I have family in 1841 & 1851 Census but apparently census was not done in there street in 1861 .
I would like to trace Alexanders death I have searched scotlands people quite expensively trying to locate the rest of the family to no avail.
there is another son James who is on 1841 census but not 51.census.
They were living at Marsh st Bathgate in 51 and at Gideon St Bathgate in 41 census.

many thanks
margaret.

Margaret.
You need to explore the Library Catalog at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... t_fhlc.asp to see what, if anything, they hold in terms of MIs for the area.
And it is the Bathgate in Scotland that you want
Have a look yourself, but it seems to be the case that there's a microfilm that could be of assistance in your search.
David

Anderson FAMILY OF BATHGATE
Hi David,
Have ordered film of MIs so await it coming. In the mean time any suggestions on how to find marriages for the family i have spent considerable money at scotlands people on likely match ups but nothing.
As Anderson is a common name it could cost me large amounts.
I know John was in Shotts given as his address when helen died.but later census do not give him as there.
Have searchrd the 81 census for any Anderson b Bathgate with not much luck.
Any suggestions appreciated
Regards
Margaret.

Anderson Bathgate Where to now ???
Hi All,
I have just had the M Is for Bathgate film out but to no avail.
Still searching for
Alexander Anderson H age 44 in 1851 Census
Helen W age 41
Jane D age 17
Thomas S age 15
Mary D age 11
John S age 9
Helen D age 5
Alexander S age 4mths?
Besides these ones there was a James age 3 and Margaret age 10 in the 1841 Census.
Then Andrew b 1852.
All the above were born in Bathgate.
I Have the death of Helen Anderson MS Ramsay 1868 age 60 in Bathgate witness son John Anderson Hearshill Shotts.Helen was a widow when she died.
I can trace Andrew Anderson all the way.
I would dearly love to find some more of this family. I have spent large sums at scotlands people trying to find deaths or marriages for all the rest of family with no luck.
The street in Bathgate where they lived was not recorded on census night which has meant I have lost them. ??????
Andrew moved to Airdrie.I have used the 1881 Census and bought up all with a birth in bathgate and tried to make match ups but nothing definite.
Any further suggestions would be welcome I will not be making any trips to Scotland so am trying to do this from New Zealand.
I feel I have hit the brick wall very hard on this one.
Thank You
Margaret

It can indeed be expensive with a surname like that on SP.
All I can suggest is that you concentrate firstly on any kids with middle names, if there are any such, and hope that they used the middle name on the marriage schedule.
Secondly, concentrate on the girls as there was a strong tradition for the marriage to take place in the bride's parish, so, as long as you can place them in terms of registration district from the censuses, then search in the RDs involved, - remember that you can select 5 at the same time, - and restrict the period searched to that matching an age of 18 to 38. Obviously they could have married after that age, but much less likely to have had children.
