McKay/Cameron from Kilmonivaig, Inverness-shire

Post by broch587 » Tue Aug 14, 2012 6:16 am

Hello,

I am looking for any information on the McKay family living in Drynachan, Kilmonivaig, Inverness-shire in the 1841 census. James Mckay was a blacksmith and with his wife Ann Cameron and 6 (?) children, they emigrated to Australia in the early 1850's. James's fathers name was Donald, he may have had a brother Donald living with him, who was also a blacksmith and possibly Ann's younger sister Margaret Cameron was living with them in 1841 as a female servant.

Does anyone know anything further about this family?

Have you found any sign of them in the 1851 census? Or do you think they may have emigrated by then?

All the best,

AndrewP

Yes, I am following up, a little later.

So yes, I have information about the family both ancestors and descendants.

My research is in realtion to a soldier who died WW1 Clarke Maxwell Gray, daughter of Mary Cameron, and grandson of Sarah Mackay.
