i'm trying to find out if mary paton nee kelly and her husband robert ashwood paton ,mary died 1943 9th may at 253 duke street glasgow had any children.mary is my dads aunt on his fathers side. sadly all the kelly family has passed away.thanks catherine they lived at 100 high craighall rd glasgow in 1943.

A bit of searching on ScotlandsPeople showed that Robert was born in 1884 and they were married in 1917, both events taking place in Glasgow City. However, the birth search will not allow for putting in the parents' names and there are too many Paton births in Glasgow to even begin. You would need a day in either the Mitchell Library in Glasgow or the Scotland's People Centre in Edinburgh to trawl through them and see if any of them had the correct parents. This is where being physically in Scotland is a huge advantage!

Have you searched the newspapers for Mary's obituary? That will often give the names of the surviving family members and if so would certainly mention children if there were any.

A death search at SP gives 17 names indexed with the surname Paton and mothers maiden name Kelly. 5 of these are in the birth range 1927 +/- 10 years. Maybe you'll recognise some family names if you spend 1 credit and decide if they could be children of Mary and Robert.
