Does anybody know where I can find information on schoolteachers in Paisley? My GGGrandfather is listed as a School Master in the 1881 Census there. Their address was 49 High St. Paisley , Renfrew.
In other docs he is simply listed as a School Teacher. However on his marriage Cert. in 1849,in Tamlaght O'Crilly, his occupation was listed as a Farmer, so I don't know when he became a School Teacher.
The family seems to have settled permanently in Scotland betweem 1871 and 1880 ,after moving back and forth between County Derry and Scotland.
I would like to find some books, etc that would tell me about SchoolTeachers and schools in 19th century Paisley, also shoemakers in Eagleshan and what their lives were like.
Thanks
Sheila
