My grandparents, Elizabeth Margaret, nee Smith born 1873, Wishaw, Cambusnethan & James Stewart, born 1869, coal miner, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, emigrated to New Zealand in 1911. They had 11 children, Esther, Annie, Isabella, Alexander, Margaret, Elizabeth, James, Janet & Robert were born in Lanarkshire.(2 in N.Z.)
Elizabeth's parents; Robert Pollock Smith born, abt. 1832, & Esther (Essy) Pollock abt. 1842.
James' parents; James Stewart, abt.1838 Glasgow,Scotland , Rope spinner, & Ann Thomson, born abt.1844 Larkhall, Lanarkshire.
Hoping to get confirmation that James snr. parents were, Alexander Stewart, 1816 & Agnes, 1821, both of Lanarkshire,
This may be a long shot, but I would love to hear from anyone who knew of them & their extended families.

Hello Fern49 and ![TS welcome [TS_welcome]](./images/smilies/TS_welcome.png)
I hope someone comes along and recognizes your family. I have a Stewart brick wall myself, but it's not connected to yours, as far as I can tell. If there is something specific you'd like to find out, just let us know and we will give it a good try.
All the best,
Sarah

Hello Sarah, thanks for that. I would like confirmation that I have the right parents for my g/grandmother Ann, nee Thomson, born abt. 1844 Larkhall, Lanarkshire.(married James Stewart,) I have her parents as William Thomson abt.1812 & Isbell ? abt. 1813 both of Dalserf, Lanarkshire and if possible Isbell's surname.
Any assistance would be appreciated.Thanks.

Hi,
There is a proclamation for William Thomson and Isabell Scott both of the parish Dalserf, dated 30th Aug 1840. Could be yours, but there are no children baptised in Larkhall, Dalserf that I can see.
John

Hi John, thanks for that. One thing that is a surprise my grandmother Elizabeth Stewart & 7 of her children (named) emigrated in 1912 on the ship "Ionic", James emigrated 11 July 1911 on the "Corinthic, with the 2 eldest girls Esther & Annie not mentioned.
I found a Annie Stewart listed as emigrated in September 1911 on the ship "Corinthic. No sign of an Esther Stewart.
Seems strange that the 2 eldest daughters didn't sail with either of the parents.?
