I have not posted in a few years I hit a brick wall and just gave up. I had bookmarked this forum and the answers I got back then and I have decided to follow a different route the one suggest by a forum member
.
My Father was David Milne Gardner his Mother was not married when he was born in 1893 and he was brought up by a family named Duncan. Her name was Maggie Love Gardner.
I have decided to follow the family my father boarded with
Elizabeth Duncan lived at 40 coupar Street, Dundee she was reported as a widow on the 1901 census. She had two of her children living with her Francis (a girl) age 14 and a boy Victor age 4. My Father at this time was 7 and listed as a boarder. On the 1911 census Francis had married Edward Traynor and moved to 11 Grays Lane, Lochee listed are two children Lorrie age 4 and another girl Maggie age 1. My Father is listed as a Boarder and his age is 17. It has my father listed as a Dairy worker.
I can find plenty of information on my Fathers mother Maggie Love Gardner. I know my father was born at 60 Logie Street, Dundee which is just a couple of streets over from Coupar Street.
I cannot seem to find any further information on either Elizabeth Duncan or her Daughter Francis or son Victor.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Re: DUNCAN FAMILY
A quick browse shows that Victor married a Susan Collingan in 1913 and his mother is shown as deceased. There is a death indexed at SP of an Elizabeth Ross/Duncan in 1902.
I cannot check this at the moment but it looks as though Victor emigrated to Australia in 1923.
There is also a death indexed at SP of a Frances Duncan/Traynor in 1962.
Regards,
Annette

Re: DUNCAN FAMILY
Sarah.... Thankyou for providing the link to my last posting I did not realize how long ago it was till I looked at the dates.
Annette...When I gave up on my search so many years ago I should not have done so without checking up on the Duncan connection like someone suggested. But the more I think about it the more I realize that this family played an important part in my Fathers life.
Thankyou for the information on Elizabeth Ross and Victor. I have been back to the LDS website but perhaps because I am new to it I do not like it as much as the old one. I am finding it difficult to find my way around it.
Again my thanks to you both. Who knows maybe this time I will get further along.....
