Need replacement 1881 disc

Post by Cathy » Tue Sep 20, 2005 2:55 pm

Hi,
my 81 Lowlands disc has seen better days.
I saw recently someone had sent for a replacement. Of course I can't find the message. I've been all around LDS, and still can't find address.
I think its Birmingham. Can anyone help?

Hi Cathy

A very good question, - and I'm on my 3rd Lowland disk, - the central ring tends to break up after several thousand uses, - but my last replacement was obtained on a visit to Salt Lake City a year ago.

The UK distribution centre www address, from which I got my previous replacement, when it was still possible to buy separately the two Scottish area CDs, - http://www.lds.org.uk/genealogy/software.htm, - now doesn't appear to lead anywhere useful in this context.......

However, a quick Google leads to the following from GenUKI .........

QUOTE

Address as below:

LDS Distribution Centre
399 Garretts Green Lane
Birmingham B33 0UH

Fax Orders 08700 102052
Debit / Credit Card Orders 08700 102051

Outside of the U.K. visit http://www.lds.org.uk/genealogy/ordering.html and follow the link to Worldwide Distribution Centres

ENDQUOTE

If you phone that number and select option 1, a very polite LDS church member will take your order...............

Hi Cathy & David,

I just use a copy for everyday work; this keeps the original in good condition.

It's also possible to run all of your discs from the hard drive but you've got to monkey with a good few settings after copying them all across.
Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).

Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.

Hi Jack,
I shall get my daughter to make a copy when I get it.

Hi Andy,
too complex for me, hence the daughter.
