Hello Kevin
[TS_welcome]
It may help you if you can find deaths on Scotlands People for your lang deid yins.
As for the females trying to find who they married may not be that easy (or cheap) as the ones you are looking for are after the date IGI (family search) covers.
Although there is always the chance that someone on TS will have some information for you, this site is notable for such things.

Searching for: Anderson, Balks, Barton, Courtney, Davidson, Downie, Dunlop, Edward, Flucker, Galloway, Graham, Guthrie, Higgins, Laurie, Mathieson, McLean, McLuckie, Miln, Nielson, Payne, Phillips, Porterfield, Stewart, Watson

As Stew said sometimes the deaths can be the way forward.

Have you found the death certs for your grandparents?
Your Grandmother can be searched for using both her surnames, if she's a widow or not then it gives you a time frame to get her husband's death.
Whoever informed their deaths will have an address shown so you may get a clue that way.

I do have Govan Jamiesons on my tree but none seem to match with yours - Irish who moved around Scotland with the Shale oil industry.

Some times you have to spread the net a little wider - look at other members of the family and see if you can get any clues from their certificates
ie - witnesses on marriage certs,
informants on both birth & death certs [it's not always the obvious folk who signed these]
checking addresses there too and
chase up any other folk found in the census returns.
Any casualties of the war? next of kin and addresses sometimes feature there.

Happy hunting

Never thought about casualties of war but it would be the 1st WW because of their age i think they would be to old for the second ??...
But i'll take on board all what you have said and thank you for your tips.
