Hello Ian and [TS_welcome]

I just noticed you had already asked this question, without response, several years ago -- our apologies. We try to make sure all posts are answered, but sometimes one slips by unnoticed.

What is it that you are trying to find out about this family? If you have John and Margaret's marriage certificate, you will know their parents' names and be able to go backwards in time with the family. Do you have the family in the 1901 and 1911 censuses? If you let us know what sources you already have and what, exactly, you are looking for, then perhaps we can be of help.

All the best,
Sarah

Hello Ian
I have a John McLaughlan (some of the census my McLaughlans are McLachlan, some McLaughlan, ditto on certs) born 1847 Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, as were most of his siblings. Parents Charles McLaughlan and Rosy McKeown, who were married 1838 in County Antrim Ireland but in Kilbirnie by 1841 birth of son Patrick. This John McLaughlan was living at 30 Gallowgate in Glasgow in 1876 when he reported his father's death. But this man is more the generation to be your's grandfather. Sorry not more help.
Cathy

Hello all: just starting to gather some info before I really get into the meat of the family. I'm not ignoring any input. Ran across a connection to a "Cook(e)" side of the family as well as a "Gemmel" side (all around Port Glasgow, Greenock, Gourock, Stirling). Looking forward to any and all replies. Regards, Ian (McLachlan) Brown :)
