i am trying to find information on john donnelly who is down as a musician on his daughters marriage cert in 1916 in glasgow, how would i go about finding this info. :?:

You could start with her birth, the certificate should have her parents on it, then look at their marriage, his age, and then possibly find his birth.
His marriage certificate should also have his parents names on it.

Having a look at the 1911 census could help too.

Though if you are looking for information about his musical career you could search in newspapers of the time.

I've a feeling Glasgow University have some sort of archive of actors or music hall performers but I'm not certain.

have you just tried to google his name?

There's a John Donnelly, fiddler, born 1856 in Ireland living at 5 Mullaway Court, Blackburn, Lancs in 1881 with his wife Catherine.

In the Hamilton Advertiser of Saturday 2nd September 1916 there was an annoucement of a Mr John D Donnelly to the position of painist at the Hamilton Picture House. Could this be your relative? A Mr John Donnelly is also mentioned in the Motherwell Times around the same time as a teacher of the American Organ.
