I have birth of John Munro 1832, married to Ann Fraser1856, showing on the 1871 census in Inverallan Granton on Spey with a family of 5. The family minus John is on the 1881 census. Ann's death is in1912 in Monifieth Angus. John is already dead. Given that his last child was born in 1872 it suggests that John died between 1872 and 1912. Cannot find his death anywhere. Any suggestions?
Thank you
Patjohn

Re: MUNRO
There appears to have been quite a lot of gamekeepers called John Munro scattered about Scotland. There was one at Huntly Lodge, Huntly who died 1911, but doesn't seem to fit the picture. Another, from Glack, Glenrinnes, became a member of the Spey, Aven, and Fiddichside Farmer Club in 1907.
Aberdeen Press and Journal, Wednesday, March 25, 1925.
OBITUARY.
Grantown native's death in Australia.
Intimation has been received of the death on February 6, at Wagin, Western Australia, of Mr William Munro. He was 52 years of age, and is survived by a widow and five children. A son of the late Mr John Munro, gamekeeper, Grantown, he was employed at one time at the Palace Hotel there. Emigrating in 1911, he took up farming.
If that's him, and the Grantown position was what he was noted for, and nothing else, it might suggest that he was there for quite some time.
Maybe he went to OZ with his son and died there? Or maybe died at sea? Who knows?
