My grandmother, known as Mary Drennan Stewart or Wilson, lived most of her life in Crieff, Perthshire. I have found her on the 1911 census living and working there but cannot find any trace of her in Scotland prior to this although she gives her place of birth on that census as Glasgow Lanarkshire. Her parents, as far as I know, were Agnes Drennan and James Stewart but my understanding is that she was orphaned when she was quite young and I do not know who brought her up. I believe she had one brother called James. I think James was a baker who went to work in the lumber camps in Northern Canada in the 1920s. My grandmother married my grandfather, Frank Wilson, in 1916 in Glasgow.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Welcome
Do you have a copy of the marriage cert? The parents named on that will have been given by her personally so should be accurate. The names of the witnesses may give further clues as to relations.
Have you looked for the marriage of her parents?
Sorry its only questions not answers,

This one is difficult because the names are so common. I can't find the marriage cert for Agnes Drennan and James Stewart, but I did find this listing on the 1901 Census for an Agnes Stewart and Mary Stewart age 8, born in 1893 which fits the age on Mary's marriage cert. with Frank Wilson. The Mary on the census has Ayr as a birthplace instead of Glasgow though she was living in Glasgow in 1901. Good luck with this one. It's a tough one! ( I did a copy and paste on this and it's setting up funny. Hope it prints out ok.)
