I am researching my family history
I believe that at least two of my ancestors are buried in Larbert cemetery but have been unable to locate any record of their graves on-line.
Henry Haworth died in 1781. He came up to Scotland in 1779 in order to take up the post of Resident Woodcarver to the Carron Company. With his sudden death from pneumonia his older brother was sent up from their father's company, in London, to replace him.
William Haworth died in 1838 and, according to the Henry Moore Foundation's Biographical Dictionary of Sculptors in Britain, 1660-1851, he was buried alongside his brother Henry in Larbert Cemetery.
In his book "Where Iron Runs Like Water!: A New History of Carron Iron Works", author Brian Waters makes mention of a portrate of George III and Queen Charlotte, carved at the time in wood by Samuel Haworth and then used as a pattern for iron casting. This same portrait was employed on No.318 Hob Grate, still being sold by the company in the 1930's.
The above mentioned Samuel Haworth was their father and founder of the family business.
I have been trying to find a picture of the aforementioned Hob Grate but without success. I understand that there may be a picture somewhere in your arquives.
At some point the family name changed its spelling from Haworth to Hayworth. I believe that this may have something to do with the pronunciation of the name as I believe that the name was always pronounced as Hayworth, although I could be wrong.
I would be grateful for any help you might be able to offer.
As I live in Manchester I am unable to travel to Falkirk at this moment in time.
Yours sincerely
John L. Hayworth
