alexander macleod of muckairn.....

Post by utrecht003 » Mon Dec 05, 2005 8:50 pm

perhaps I'm getting too old but could someone please help clear my mindMgrandfather was Malcolm Macleod born 1868 in Muckairn Argyll to a Kitty Macleod (illigitimate) house servant.

On his marriage cert his mother was given as Catherine McKenzie, previously Macleod,M S macleod his father being Malcolm Macleod
On his death cert. his mother was given as Catherine Macleod, subsequently McKenzie,M S macleod, His father being Malcolm Macleod.
Malcolm Macleod married Catherine Macleod 26 january 1871(2 years after the birth of Alexander) Is this likely in those days and the Mckenzie connection.

Hi utrecht003
I looked at this one for so long, my screensaver kicked in!!

At the time of Alexander's marriage, was his father deceased? That would explain things perhaps.

It looks as if his mother may have remarried, to a Mr McKenzie. It looks to me from what you've noted, that she was born a Macleod, married Malcolm Macleod, then married a McKenzie before the date of son Alexander's marriage. Does this sound about right?

Best wishes
Lesley
