Looking for a Honeyman!.....

Post by bethsam » Thu Dec 08, 2005 1:37 pm

Hi everyone

I thought I'd do my husband's family tree for his Christmas (seeing as I've spent so much on mine!) I wonder if anyone has access to the 1841/1851 census records for Fife? The family I am looking for is Honeyman but I know that there are rather a lot in the area. The places in Fife I have them living are Collessie and Kettle.

Head of the house should be Joseph, but it may be his wife Jean born around 1802. The children I have found so far

Sophia born 1835
Mary 1837
Andrew 1839
Peter 1842
David 1845

Fortunately, as they named a daughter Sophia (the only one I found on origins.net), they should be easy to find. She would be around 6/16 at these times. I'd be grateful for any information anyone can give.

Can you ask for these records at a local library or would you need to know exactly where if Fife they lived and go directly there?

Many thanks for your interest
Gerry

There is a Sophia Robertson born to James and Jean Duncan in 1812 in Kettle, This Sophia had a sister, Jean born about 1809.

Just a thought.

Hi Gerry,

Just to let you know that Kirkcaldy Central Library has indexes for most of the 1851 Fife censuses. Ypu could always e-mail them if you're not able to visit. They also have the 1841 censuses , but no indexes and a lot of them were lost forever in transit to Edinburgh. I see the family were living in Cults in 1839 and that was one of the censuses lost so you might not be able to find them in 1841 unfortunately.
