Do I have to wait until 2007?

Went joyfully onto SP to look for my father's birth details.
None to be found!!
As he was born on 18 December 1905, does that mean that I can't see the entry until 2007?

If his birth was not registered until January 1906, then yes, you will have to wait another year to see it online (or order it from GROS, or buy a ticket to Edinbuirgh and visit NRH).

No !!!!! - it should now be there for you now, in the last few hours, on-line at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk .......... but see Andrew's cautionary note if the registration didn't happen until 1st January 2006 or later ..................

What's his name, and place of birth ?

I thught I had answered this already the other day, but can't find the post, so if it's somewhere else, my apologies.

I checked all the birth certs of my father's siblings and it seems that they were all registered about a fortnight after birth, so with my father being born on 18th Dec, 1905, that would mean that he wasn't registered until after New Year's day in 1906. So nothing I can do but wait until next year!
