Mission Impossible!.....

Post by Snowbird » Sat Dec 31, 2005 2:07 pm

Hello everyone,
This is my first appearance .. but hopefully not my last!

Your mission (and mine) if you should choose to accept.. is to help a poor Snowbird, unravel the mystery of the birth of a John Snell born 1803 , by all accounts , in Aberdeen Scotland. His fathers name is .... generally unknow, although there are some who suspect that his name was William. Mother, so far, is unknown ( although we do know that he had one :D ) She may have been Scottish but most likely was English. His father was a soldier in the army and stationed in Scotland at the time of John's birth.
A cousin here in Canada has hired many a genealogist expert , to no avail. Records in Engalnd have been searched .. nothing! :?
So I am hoping that someone, somewhere, may know of where I can look to find the birth registration of one,
John Snell (my gggrandfather) ...I know that its not much to go on but it is all that I have.
I know of John's life later on, from about the time he was 20, but nothing other than his birth year and place ( it was on the 1841 census) from his earlier years.

Any and all help will be so greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Snowbird

Hello Snowbird

There is a John Snell listed on IGI born 10 June 1804 and baptised 22 June 1804 in Cruden, Aberdeen. Father is John Snell, mother Janet Shewen. Might that be him?

Regards
Pinkshoes
