A little off topic...

Perhaps a little off topic but I am cuurently living in Ottawa and am hoping to move to glasgow or Edinburgh for a few years or perhaps permanently.

I am a software developer and am trying to find out if anyone on here is living in these cities and works in the computer industry. Trying to find a "perfect" job; aren't we all. Good people is probably one of the key factors. I have located many sites to help find work but am interested in talking to people who do the work in the companies. I can only find out so much from a recruiter who may not have an intimate knowledge of the employer / employees.

I can't vouch for any employers but I think your best bet would probably be to start off contracting. Having been a contracter myself a number of years ago you meet similar people and the best jobs are usually by word of mouth that way. Contracters by nature usually work in a variety of locations and know other people working on other sites.

Glasgow, Edinburgh and also Dundee have the bulk of the jobs as far as software developement goes. Best of luck in finding what you are looking for.
