Hello, I have put three birth certificates in the Gallery ( I think) and on two of them the parents marriage took place in Tyrone but the third one (Owen's) is different and I can't make out the word. I cannot find this marriage and I wondered at it being in 1858 when the first birth is in 1870 but I just found the family in the 1881 census and there are two other sons 19 and 17 both born in Ireland. The IGI does not have the marriage but it might help if I could read Owen's information. Any guesses anyone

http://talkingscot.com/gallery/displayi ... p?pos=-363 (John - 1870)

Thanks
Cathie

Hi Cathie
Could it be Dungannon ? purely looking up Tyrone and seeing this is a Town (?) there.

Cathie:
What about Drumpere or Drumpune or Drumpine? Charles registration cites COUNTY Tyrone, so maybe Dru*** is a village?
Also, did you notice on Charles registration that the wedding date is given as 1857? Is it worth looking at that year for reg of the marriage? If she wasn't able to write, or could only sign her name, she wouldn't have picked up on any error, but that wouldn't explain why 2 of the 3 reg have 1858.
Also the Mother registered all 3; made her mark for Owen '74 and Charles
'72, but signed for John in 1870.
Why would that be so, do you think? "Only twa hands fer haudin' oan ta th' wains"?

I did notice the two different dates and the fact that Rose signed one of the certs. but her writing was very poor and maybe she just decided it was easier to put her mark, or as you say she had her hands full!
Stew
Drumquin seems to be the most likely so I will check it out.
Thank you both for your replies
