Hi I am asking on behalf of an associate for any info on the Fadzen family
The only information so far is.....
Joseph Fazden born c1822 in Scotland
Jane Fazden born c1822 in Wigtonshire, Scotland
Jane (daughter) born c1842
John (son) born c1848
Janet (daughter) born c1851
They are on the 1861 census in Durham but cannot be found anywhere else in England prior to that.
Any info would be great as we're stumped!
Thanks in anticipation
Legs

Hi Legs
I had a quick look at the 1851 census on dumgal.gov.uk using variants on all the children's names and trying Fadzean/Mc Fazen/McFadzean as well but 'no result' came up.
Looks like they were not in the Wigtonshire (Dumfries & Galloway area at that time.
Have a look yourself but with a wider range of possible name variants.

Hi Legs,
I was having a look at the same site as Russell (probably at the same time actually!) and I came up with a possible.
I think the problem with this site is that you have to try searching twice in a row baecause the first search usually comes up with no results for some reason.
If you look under Joseph Mc Fadzean you'll find a likely result in Penninghame with a wife Jane and 2 children named Jane and John.
The lsite is at http://www.dumgal.gov.uk/historicalindexes/census.aspx
Good Luck!

You didn't say whether you had tried IGI Scotland for one of the children's births. Now that you know where to look!
If it comes up on the Dumgal census it often shows up in the LDS batches. They may have used them to compile the site as well as the local census material.
Found several this way.
