Maggie

From the IGI there is a James Yuill born 04 Feb 1770 chrst 11 Feb 1770 to William Yuill and Isabel Henderson but this is in Old Kilpatrick Dunbarton. No others shown for these parents.

There are a couple of birth around the same time John & Margaret Youll to a Thomas Youll and Elizabeth Watson. Maybe a relation

It could be that William moved after James birth.

There are two marriages of a James Yool 1795 and James Yuill 1815 in Cadder but no sign of a birth.

Hi Maggie

Well all have  from time to time, I am good at it.

No sign of a marriage of William to Isabella Henderson but their is one in 16 My 1772 to an Isabel Walker.

The only child shown to that couple is an Jannet Yuille but that is n 1777 and Baldernock Stirling....not too far away.

Could Isabella Henderson died shortly after James birth? was James illegitimate.

What about William's occupation will that give a clue to his likely movements?

Hello Drew
many thanks for your reply
i couldn't find a marriage either for William & Isabella
if Isabella did die after the birth of James i suppose William could have remarried i take your point that no marriage might ever have taken place but who would have raised James???maybe's there is answers to this in poor relief records .i know the son James lived to a ripe old age as Jack said in one of my other postings they all seemed to with the exception of one of my main characters ie 4xgreat grandfather another William.
i have no concrete evidence as to a possible occupation for William though i suspect that farming of some nature is relevant going by the following generations James the son was a portioner and William the grandson is recorded as an Ag lab on the 1841 and a ploughman on wedding certs for his children and as a land steward on his wife's death cert as to areas Old Kilpatrick East kilbride Bonhill Maryhill Cadderand one grandson & his family ended up in in Baldernock.
thanks once again Drew your help is appreciated kind regards maggie
