Richard Urquhart x Rosehearty.....

Post by moresmall » Wed Feb 01, 2006 7:28 am

Hi

Does anybody out there have knowledge about a Richard Urquhart, born in Rosehearty about 1900, he was a widower, when he married in March 1962, Annie Taylor Ritchie b August 1913 (daughter of Joseph Ritchie & Annie Watt).

I was told that Richard died in Adlington, Chorley, England, date unknown, and Annie Taylor Ritchie died in Leyland, England, but buried in Peathill Cemetery May 2003, there is no mention of Richard on the gravestone.

Regards

Maureen, in a sunny New Zealand, down under.

Hi again Maureen

I've heard stories of similar situations - people don't always put names on grave stones. I don't know how common it is, but I've heard it happens.

Have you been able to get the date of Richard's death by now?

Hi

Just found out some new & interesting info about Richard and his wives. His 1st wife was Christina (Chrissie) bc 1895-1961. (Peterhead)

Richard's date of birth is 18 August 1896 in Fraserburgh, but they appear to have lived in Rosehearty.

Chrissie & Richard had a son John James Cowe Urquhart bc 1926, and died on or around 25 April 1944, after an accident at Fraserburgh Harbour, in which he drowned trying to save some one else.

Does anyone know about this accident, or where I can find out about it.

After Chrissie died in 1961, Richard married <full name removed>, but from my information it appears that Richard died 6 July 1965.
After he and <name removed> married, they sold the family home and moved to England.

Hi Maureen
The accident may have been reported in local papers, or less likely in the Scotsman.

Best wishes
Lesley
