I hope someone can help me in tracing the early life of Clare Rose Honfeldt, born in Germany(?) in about 1858/60 - the daughter of Henry amd Matilda. She first appears in the 1881 census as a servant in what must have been a bighouse - 1,2 & 4 Princess Street, Port Glasgow. She married Andrew Mackean Patterson, a tailor, in 1884 and lived at Claraville ( how romantic of him!), Rotchell Road, (Maxwelltown), Dumfries until his death in 1919. She returned to Glasgow and died at 19 Westminster Terrace in 1929.
The reason for my interest - I believe she is my Great, Great, Grandmother on my mother's side.
Thanks for any help - Malcolm Biggins

Hi Malcolm & welcome to TS.
Are you familiar with the Scottish Search system?
You know the marriage date & death dates/places of both from that can I take it you have the certificates.
If not for a modest fee you can search online at Scotlands People. You register & then fill in the information you have i.e.names,dates location & you should be able to view an image of the original certificate.
What is it you are trying to confirm? The death certificate should hopefully contain
1. Husbands name/occupation.
2. Place, time cause of Death/Medical Attendant or not.Usual address if different to place of Death.
3. Name/occupation of parents including Mother's Maiden name.
Marriage certificates have
1. Place of marriage & which "form" it took e.g according to the forms of the Established Church of Scotland.
2. Date & name of both parties,their occupations.their ages.
3. Their address at time of marriage.
4. Names of both parents including maiden names of Mothers
5. Names/signatures of witnessess & their address depending on date.
6. Name of Minister/whoever performed the ceremony.
Also please note that most marriages in Scotland until the Middle of the twentieth century took place at the home of the Bride or Groom.
Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to ask for more help.
