William Wallace.....

Post by Jeans girl » Thu Feb 16, 2006 11:20 pm

Help Please.

Iam stuck in trying to find a Marriage or death records for William Wallace
born 1875 in Kennoway Fife. Parents James Wallace, Margaret Cumming

I have searched most William Wallace entries on Scotlands people to no avail.
I have him in the 1891 Census still at home.
Any suggestions appreciated

Many Thanks
Margaret. (NZ) :?:

Hi Margaret

Can't help with the marriage or death but William is on the 1901 census aged 23 and working as a Coal miner with his father (now a widower) his sister Jane aged 33 and there is a grandchild aged 10 by the name of Maggie C Wallace. They are living at Kennoway Road, Markinch, Windygates.

Do you know for sure that he married? Have you checked the Commonwealth War Graves web site www.cwgc.org perhaps he was a casualty of WW1 alternatively he may have survived past 1955 as he would only have been 77 years old then. I have his birth as 1878 and not 1875 but I realise that could just have been a typo.

Hope this allows you to narrow your search a little. Just as a by the way, I am still searching after 4 years for the death of my GG Grandfather Robert Lindsay who was alive and well on the 1881 census after which, I can only assume, there was an alien abduction as I have never found his death yet.

Good Luck and keep us posted

Regards

Hi Annette,

Thanks for the reply.Yes that is the family. He may well have lived to much older as his father lived to 91yrs.

I presume he married as I can remember my Grandmother Maggie telling me about her Uncle Bill and how he had married this women I think the Family felt he had been trapped into it somehow.

I suppose he will be like his Grandfather George Wallace and prove very elusive to trace.

Regards
Margaret.
