Your post had me asking questions rather than having any answers for you.
On the death cert, was he married, widowed or single? Did he die before or after the 1871 Census? What was his age at death? Where was he living? Who was the informant? What would you still like to find out about him?

John McCready died 14/01/1871
Married to Margaret Ferguson, still living in 1871
She appears on the 1881 Census living with her son Alexander
the family are in the 1861 Census as McCreddie in Old Monkland
He was still living in Eastern District Old Monkland when he died
DC signed by son Alexander, his mark.

I would really like to find his Birth & parents.
