What happened to Thomas,Euphemia & Frederick.....

Post by joette » Fri Mar 03, 2006 1:36 pm

Thought chasing down the Marriage of Frederick & the death of at least Euphemia would be easy.
Thomas Greer-43 was born in Neilston,Renfrew. In 1881 he is living in Cramond,Edinburgh with his wife Euphemia-41(his brother's first Wife was also Euphemia!)& adopted son Frederick G.-6.
They are living with John Page 61-Father-in-law & Christina Page-Mother-in-law plus sister-in-law Christina neilson & her three children.
After that I can find no trace. No Deaths,no remarriage for either,no marriage for Frederick.
The Pages are still there in the 1891 Census with the addition of a son& one of the Neilson Grandchildren still with them.
Have checked the 1901 English Census with no luck for any.Checked Ellis Island in case they had emigrated.
Anybody any ideas please :? of Middlesex

Joette,
This probably isn't of any help but immigration through Ellis Island didn't start until 1892. Have you tried www.castlegarden.org?
There is a Thomas Grier at Ellis Island in 1893 right age (55) but he's an accountant and appears to be on his own.

Thanks for that Meg no sign of them there either.
I have a theory there is a place similiar to the bermuda triangle & it's where all our rellies got to hide from our searching.

Thanks for that doubt she is a daughter as Frederick was adopted & appeared to be their only child.
However Thomas brother's first wife was also Euphemia so maybe a connection there.I know lots of the Mckimmies/Greers settled in Canada/USA mainly in Niagara/New Jersey.
Where did you access the info please?

Hi Brendan & Welcome to TalkingScot.I have PM you before reading this post. =D>
I think we are related. My Great-Granny was a Greer -her Father was Thomas's younger brother Robert-their parents were Mary Simpson & Gilbert Greer.
The Greer boys except for Thomas were all Stonemasons( all are apprentices with their Father in the 1851 Census).
I have no idea what happened to Euphemia & Thomas after 1881-I wonder if they went to Ireland-found no death or remarriage for them.
Frederick's children names are all family ones although he has not included a Gilbert like all the other branches-it can be a problem working out whose Gilbert is whose?
I have no idea where or whom he was adopted from but wonder if Euphemia sister could have given him to them-she was a "widow" with several children all born England. As her sister was childless :?: :?: :?:
