Hi Heather,
Have you tried searching for Lyons on
www.genesreunited.co.uk/ ?
I've found the site interesting for finding links to present day family members.
Best wishes
Catriona

Charles Ross Lyon
Hi Catriona
Thanks for your reply. I have been a member of Genes Reunited for over a year now but so far I have not found any matches. I keep hitting a brick wall with my search and thought if I could find a living relative I might be able to go forward with my search.
Thanks again.

Re: Charles Ross Lyon.....
Here is a wild card for you, but after all of these years you may have come across it before.
A James Reoch Esq. died while travelling from Leith to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. He asked that his remains be preserved so that he could be buried in the Presbyterian burying ground upon arrival.
He was the son of the chief magistrate of Leith. The artricle appeared in at least two Tasmanian newspapers of the day. Reference for one of them is:

Good luck,

Hi Piperpaul
Thanks for this information. I don't think this was the same Charles Ross Lyon because his father was a hotelier.
Thanks again.

Re: Charles Ross Lyon.....
Charles had three siblings, his elder brother John, and elder sisters Williamina and Jean[nie]. All three married, all three died in Scotland ages between 62 and 75. There were two least kids, this from the informants on the death register entries for two of them, plus that of Charles' father William, - a granddaughter was the informant.Heather Lyon wrote:I am searching for any living relative of Charles Ross Lyon married to Agnes Reoch in Brechin 1923. Did you have any contact with Charles' mother Agnes REOCH before she died at a grand old age? A look at that death record that could well lead quite quickly to living relatives...............
See my PM to follow later, - after the tennis !
