1901 Census Look Up....Please .....

Post by davy57 » Sun Mar 05, 2006 11:59 am

Hi
I was wondering if any kind soul would be able to look up the 1901 Census Records for the areas of Dublin and Dun Laoghaire (formerly Kingstown). My Birney's were resident in Dun Laoghaire from about 1830 onwards and my Great Grandfather, Francis Birney was married there in 1878. Francis married Mary Grantham and as far as I am aware they had seven childen. The youngest child Constance was born at North Dock Street, Dublin in 1888 so Francis must have moved to Dublin sometime after 1886, as the previous child, Francis Joseph was born in Dun Laoghaire in 1886.

What puzzles me further is that Francis's occupation is listed as "Harbourmaster" on his Marriage Registration but I have been unable to follow up on this information, not for the want of trying, I can assure you!! Maybe he was Harbourmaster in Dun Laoghaire and had to move North to Dublin to continue in the Dublin Docks.

Thank you
