Any ideas?

Euphima was one I thought of, but am open to suggestions!!

Hi Lisa,

You are right, Effy, or more commonly Effie, is a short form of Euphemia. Other shortenings of Euphemia are Phemie and Fay - there are probably many more.

One of my Effies from the isle of Lewis is a Henrietta. Or should I say "One of my Henriettas is called Effie".

In this case her mother Isabella is called Barbra, so the family have maybe simply set out to confuse us.

An older form of Euphemia was Euphan

Phemie could be Femie or Femy but in the hebrides Effie was probably the commonest abbreviation

I have 2 Euphemia's and have seen them as Euphenia, Euphan,
Effie and Effy.

I think Euphemia would be the most common
