McGeorge, John.....

Post by daisylrm » Sun Mar 19, 2006 3:48 pm

I looking for any info regarding the McGeorge family. The furthest I have been able to go is John McGeorge of Virginia, USA. However, I don't know if he was born in Scotland or Virginia, USA. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Can you maybe give us some idea of dates for your John McGeorge? Do you know approx. when he was born? This might help us to help you!

Hello Daisy

I saw your post earlier and was going to ask the same as Lesley but got distracted  I looked around on the web anyway for a John born Scotland died Virginia
I saw a John W McGeorge b c 1730 Scotland died c1795 in Bedford (?)County Virginia and he had a daughter Margaret. The entries were unconvincing and had no back up that i could see. If these dates ring bells it may give you a year range to work from - if this sounds like yours.

Yes, this is the same John McGeorge that has Margaret listed as his daughter. He was born approx. 1728, died 1794 in Bedford County Virginia. I have a few deeds that put him in various places in Virginia up until his death. A "few" is the key word. That is really about it. The earliest I show him in Virginia is 1749 according to a land patent. I have seen contradictory info as to if he was born in Virginia, Scotland or Ireland. But no one seems to be able to tell me their reasoning for their opinion. Hope someone can help!

Thanks.
