Welcome to TS - you will find everyone here most helpful and friendly. I have no links to your lot but thought I could welcome you with a wee look up - here goes:-
John Jaffray was Margaret Mckenzie's 1st husband (from your posting married 1850) - she later married Alexander Black - she died as Margaret Black in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on 20 July 1907 aged 74. Death registered by her son A. Jaffray. Her parents listed as being William McKenzie and Margaret Jaffray (both deceased). Cause of death given as Broncho Pneumonia.
John Jaffray's occupation given as seaman and Alexander Black as ships carpenter - both died before her.
If you need more contact me by PM
Hope this helps
Regards

Re: Jaffray in Aberdeen.....
hello sherylbadger
just wanted to connect with you regarding Jaffrays. I am revisiting my family tree after nearly 30 years and picking up where I left off. my Gt G.mother was Mary Ann Jaffray b. 1864 Aberdeen, daur of Alex Jaffray & Isabella Dingwall, (m. 20 June 1851 Abdn), alexander was born 1827 Monquhitter died 1899 Aberdeen. From your original post I see you have all correctly established Alex's siblings listed and that he was the son of John Jaffray & Ann Roger. With John in turn most likely being the son of George In Monquhitter b in 1790.
I have also found the family at various stages in the census records and Ann roger seems to be Irish. Just wondering if you had made any further progress since 2006 and wanted to suggest we share what we have so far? unfortunately I don't have my original files to hand, as they are in Aberdeen but I can send you the 1841-71 census return for Alex if you dont already have them.
