Hi everyone at talkingscots
could I please ask for advise on how to go back further with my search
Elizabeth Abercrombie b 1797 canongate Edinburgh
Martha 1799
George Hamilton 1801
Susan 1805
all born to Charles Abercrombie and Mary Nicols
The only marriage I can find is in 1784 at st john baptist chester England
no names for parents or any other info on LDS how do I go back further with my search and does it mean they were English,on daughter marthas
marriage entry her mother is deceased that was in 1819.any help please

Found on IGI, the children you mentioned (although poor old Mary Nicols seems to have been named as Molly & Mally Nicol(s) and Nicolson!:

Gender: Male Birth: 16 NOV 1801 Canongate, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland

4. SUSAN ABERCROMBIE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 30 JAN 1805 Canongate, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland

and the extract marraige you mentioned:

Spouse: MARY NICHOLLS Family

There looked to be a more likely extracted marriage on IGI in 1796 (which would make sense) for a Charles Abercrombie in Edinburgh , but its very odd

It must refer to the daughter of a Charles Abercrombie I think....

Hmm. Cheshire seems a long way away, not impossible but not entirely convincing either! Any sign of either Alexander or Mary as "pensioners"

on the 1841 census?

I cant seem to find any of the Abercrombies after the marriage of Martha
except for an 81yr old charles Abercrombie dying in canongate in 1820s
with no family I just cant remember the exact date I also think a Charles Abercrombie was born to Charles and Mary but her name was Molly on igi
