The Lost World of Friese-Greene - BBC History.....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/
Join Dan Cruickshank as he follows in the footsteps of pioneering filmmaker Claude Friese-Greene, and explore the unique 1920s colour archive of his journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
Now i wasnt quite sure where to post this as it covers many topics. This wonderful series is available to watch on the BBC web site. Tonight was Gretna Green to John O’Groats.

Totally absorbing and unmissable. Gives great insight into what our forbears life and the scenery in 1920,s Scotland and England was like.

Enjoy

Hi Margaret

I have a huge amount of info on Rankin's. Most of which i havnt included on my family tree software. Each generation had around 11 children and their siblings each had around 11 children so there were just too many to add so only have mainly the direct line. Nearly all "my" Rankin's were originally from the Gamrie or Elgin areas then a few wandered into Glasgow and Aberdeen or emigrated mostly to New Zealand but some went to Australia and Canada.
Mine all lead back to John Rankin /Margaret Allan G3, William Rankin/ Mary Kirby G4, James Rankin / Mary Joass G5...............+ 3 more generations back (not my findings !).
My Shaw was Mary Shaw who married a Donaldson (my gtx3's). I havnt a clue who her parents or siblings were.

I dont know if this helps or hinders
