Hello everyone
I am looking for information on the Spences of Linlithgow who were Shoemakers.
I have a John Spence born 1 July 1798 Linlithgow who was in this trade and I would like to find out if he came from this family.
His parents are John Spence and Helen Higgens who married in Linlithgow 1 July 1794.

Have you checked the OPRs for the birth of John Spence on 1 July 1798 Linlithgow or the marriage of his parents in Linlithgow 1 July 1794? If you are very fortunate an occupation might be mentioned for father John.
Certainly worth checking for any little clues if you haven't done so already. I'd be tempted to check all known children to this couple on the OPR and read through the OPR for the period taking notes on all Spence entries to try to piece together who was who.
