Hi,
Is anyone researching James Cargin who married Elisabeth Gardiner in 1847 in Ardrossan, Ayr?
They had 3 daughters:
Anne - born abt. 1848 in Saltcoats - died 1920 Saltcoats.
Mary - born: abt. 1849 in Saltcoats - died 1873 Ardrossan.
Jessie - born 1852 Saltcoats - died 1914 Ardrossan.
Mary & Jessie didn't marry.
Anne married William Cuthbertson in 1869 - Old Ardrossan & they had 3 children known:
William Cuthbertson
Helen Cuthbertson - born: 1889
Mary Cuthbertson - born: 1875

Have you had any luck with your search? Perhaps this might jog someone's memory.
It’s also worth looking at the sources and resources sections on TS for helpful suggestions, and if you’ve got specific questions, don’t hesitate to post them – someone might be able to help you. Most of us, certainly in the west of Scotland have got Irish ancestors somewhere in the line!
It’s well worth updating your post from time to time as new members are joining up regularly and who knows – one of them might recognise your family or the area you are searching in.

It may be worth your while having a look at Kenny Monaghan's site. On the list of Headstone photos which he has for Ardossan, there is a Mathew & Mary Ann Cargin. They are perhaps related to your family.
If you send an e-mail to Kenny, he will send you a photo of the Headstone. I have had several for my family and in some cases found a wealth of information on them.
