Help with Places.....
Can anyone help locate any information on the following places and also help to make out the street name in the 1861 census.
Whitson 1861 - entry 4

I am unable to make out this street name. Originally I thought it looked like Grant Street
Whitson 1871

I think I can make out the place name as being Summerfield Mains?

- I think it says Court Street. Both census took place in Haddington. (East Lothian) Summerfield Mains seems to be it.Whitson 1861 - entry 4

Court street is illustrated on this page:

and a Google for Haddington will bring up lots of interesting sites. It is an interesting town - well worth a visit if you are in the area.
Best wishes

Ok thanks.LesleyB wrote:See above re. maps site - - I added it later, you didn't miss it!!![]()
Summerfield Mains sounds like it will be a farm, so may be visible on the map.
Any chance of transcribing this name?

Yeh I have been through there a couple of times. I still have relatives living out there. I can't remember going through the actual town centre though.LesleyB wrote:Court street is illustrated on this page:
