Hello Willie

Concord, New Hampshire USA is a favorite city of mine. So I tired to google "Concord Scotland 1820" with zero results. Next I contacted a Professor from London and asked him this question and his reply was

"I've checked the Ordnance Gazetteer of Scotland which was published in 1884-nothing on Concord. There are a couple of Concords in England. This could of course be a country house or similar and might be impossible to track down."

Relevant Page of the Gazetteer 1884

CONAN HOUSE , a mansion in Urquhart and Logie-Wester parish, Ross and Cromarty

CONDIE, an estate with a mansion in Forteviot parish (since 1891)

CONDORRAT, a villiage and quoad sacra parish in Cumbernauld parish.

CONEROCK, a conspicuous eminence (808 feet) in Rothes parish

CONGALTON , an ancient barony in Dirleton parish, Haddingtonshire

Marilyn

I would think this may be a case of someone writing down what they thought they'd heard and making a guess as to how it might be spelt.

Being a Fifer I can well imagine that "Kirkcaldy" said fairly quickly with the, er.. correct accent sounding very like "Concord" to someone whose ear wasn't correctly attuned!! :)

Best wishes
Lesley
