janet was the daughter of Thomas McLean & Janet Herriot.
she was born 6th august 1896 at waterloo road, newmains, cambusnethan.
she was first registered as Marion Scott Mclean then changed to Janet Herriot McLean seven days later.
she gave birth to a child (illegitimate) 1922 in Motherwell and thereafter had dissapeared.
i have searched the marriage & death statutory records on scotlandspeople for her and can find to trace of what happened to her.
any advice would be appreciated.
thanks
margaret

Hi Margmo
The dates at which your Janet was married and died may be after the dates you can access online: marriages up to 1930, deaths up to 1955.
I think you might need to go to New Register House in Edinbrugh or Park Circus in Glasgow and search for her. I'm not sure if you are in Scotland. If not, you may need to think about hiring a researcher or find someone else who would be willing to go on your behalf.
Best wishes

Hi Margmo
Was just going by the fact that it looked like if she'd married, it was after 1922 going by what you mentioned. It is also possible that she didn't marry at all perhaps? Maybe a good chance she survived till after 1955? (whoops, that makes it sound like the liklihood of survival is greater if she didn't marry!
)
Another thought, I suppose, might be that she may have left the country to make a new life for herself elsewhere. Hope she turns up for you.
Best wishes

Hi. I know this post is 10 years old but I have just found this site and am sure I have information about Janet Herriot McLean. Is she a family member?

Re: JANET HERRIOT McLEAN.....
Thank you for the welcome, Sarah. And yes, I think I do have interesting information for her. It's ironic that I am now trying to search for a searcher!!! Will I be contacted by email if I get a message from her? Or do I have to remember to keep checking on this site?

How great is that? After 10 years, a post has made a connection; hopefully it is solid and that you let us know if its a match.
