Post by zanne » Sat Jun 03, 2006 5:02 am

Hi, Looking for any information/Parish records/census information of the following Grants.
Alexander GRANT b late 1700's Duthil(LDS records show entry by church member about 1791) he married Mary CUMMING b late 1700's Duthil with Rothiemurchus (LDS records show entry by church member about 1795)
LDS extracted record shows they married on the 10th April 1816.
CHILDREN
Alexander born 1822 in Kingussie, was christened 6th May 1822 in Duthil with Rothiemurchus. (He emigrated to Australia with his wife Marjory (May) McLean) My gg Grandparents

Marjory Grant b 1824 christened in Duthil with Rothiemurchus
James Grant b 1826 christened in Duthil with Rothiemurchus
Mary Grant b 1831 christened in Cromdale Inverallan and Advie

I am unable to look anything up at Scotlandspeople as I have no credit card and they are unable to offer me any other alternative payment options at the moment.
I am particuarly interested in finding any info on Alexander Grant and Mary Cumming, and Alexander (1822) siblings.

Hi Sue
...and a warm welcome to Talking Scot :D

On the Scotlands People site, although you can search the indexed OPR data, there are no images for these yet, so you are not missing out on much in that area!

It may be worthwhile, if you are not too far from a LDS Family History Centre,
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... et_fhc.asp
to order the OPR microfilms for the areas you are interested in. They charge a small fee for this, but I've always found it to be well worth it. You can order census films from them too.

It might also be worth considering joining a family history society local to the area
e.g. http://www.anesfhs.org.uk/

FHSs often offer research services to distant members and will have a lot of information particular to that area - there is a link to societies at the top of the page.

Freecen http://www.freecen.org.uk/ is always worth checking too. It is not complete, but it is being added too all the time.

Hope this is of some help
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Lesley, Thanks so much for your help. I have discovered an LDS centre here in Melbourne so i will give them a call to find out what they have available. I've tried freecen to no avail :(
I guess this search will take some time....thanks again
