Long Shot

Post by Gordon Davidson » Mon Jun 26, 2006 4:52 pm

Hi

I know this is a long shot but here goes.

Does anyone still use an Amstrad PCW 9512? Before you fall about laughing this is a genuine question.

I was clearing the loft the other day and realised in one of the boxes was this old Amstrad. I plugged it in booted it up, and there on one of my old family history discs was some information, that I dont appear to have on my PC (which is an up to date model). I tried to copy the information but the disc drive expired and now it wont boot up.

If anybody can help I would be gratefeful.

ps It is already back in the box ready for the tip.

Hi Gordon
Are you not able to run your disk on the PC you have now from DOS?
I have the same as you with old files on floppy but I can still read them on my PC

Hi Smid

Thanks for your reply. The Old Amstrad does not run on DOS based programs, it runs on its own operating system based purely on the use of 3" floppy discs it does not even have a hard drive.

Gordon.

Gordon

Do a Google on 'Amstrad 9512'. You'll be amazed how much support is out there. It is an old machine with a fan club :o
