I am seeking information on a George Buchanan supposed to be married to an Elizabet Hunter. they appeared as parent to Mary Buchanan born 1831, married to James Wallace in 1851, and died 1873. Mary was supposed to have been born in Glasgow.
I found an 1841 census for an Alexander Buchanan, Elizabeth, and Mary age 10; except for the name it sort of fits. There is no record of George/Elizabeth on scotlandspeople or IGI, so I thought his name might have been Alexander. He was a weaver. Any information would be appreciated, thanks. Donna

Hi Donna
Found your poor little post stuck in the unanswered post box
I don't have any exciting answers but perhaps a suggestion or two.....
Have you traced the chilldren born to Mary and James Wallace? Did they have an Alexander or a George??? Have you looked for other BUCHANAN marriages in the area where Mary and James married but occuring after 1855 in order to trawl for possible siblings to Mary? When you state "he was a weaver" was that in reference to the census entry for Alexander or the info from Mary's DC naming George????
Best wishes
Jean

hello: thank you for responding; I was beginning to feel neglected. Funny you should ask that because Mary and James' children do have an Alexander but not a George. That is why when I saw the census for Alexander, Elizabeth and Mary Buchanan, I thought it might be them.
The notation of "weaver" was on her death cert, and on the census Alexander was listed as a cotton sewer. On that census there are other children listed but I had no idea there were so many Buchanans in Glasgow. It would be easier if they had followed Mary to Bo'ness( maybe they did; I don't know).
Mary's other children were Mary, John( times 2 because one died), James , Agnes, and William. Strange there should be no Elizabeth. I might give the IGI another look for siblings marriages/deaths. Thanks again. Donna
