Scots Birth records
I have just joined Scotish People and have had some success in finding info on my grandparents and on my paternal ggrandparents but I have come a bit unstuck my g granddad is recorded as having died in 1911 but I do not appear to be able to find his birth which I know from his death and marriage cert was 1867/8 any suggestions would be gratefully welcome. Also would like info on Percy's from around Maryhill area in Glasgow

Give us a name and we'll see what turns up
It's very possible you need to broaden the search years for his birth. Ancestors weren't always honest or exact with their ages 
If that doesn't work then you need to examine alternate spellings as it might be hiding in the indexes. That failing you might have to explore other surnames altogether.....but we'll save that for last!
