Hi Evelyn,

I have a Helen Alexander Mitchell born 1883 daughter of James Mitchell from Crathie who married a Donald Munro/Monro in 1918. He was stationed in Aldershot at the time but also a native of Crathie. ANy connection with your Aberdeen ones? If so I have a lot of information about the Mitchells from that area.

Hi Evelyn

The names you list in Fife are familiar to me from the years I've spent looking for my own Fife people. The only one on your list that I have in my tree is Pattie/Peattie.

Ann Peattie/Pattie married William Nicolson in Kilconquhar, Fife on 23/12/1748. I have not traced their descendants, but noted the details while looking for my own lot, because I'm trying to trace where my own Nicolsons in Pittenweem came from, and you never know when something might click! I'm stuck in the 1770s :x and have been for some considerable time!

I hope that you get contact from other folk who recognise names on your list!

All the best.

PS - I've just notice Wilson on your list - I've got a Wilson in Fife too - Margaret who married David Nicolson in 1801 - they are my 3x great grandparents - again from Pittenweem.

Hi Liz

I have Wilsons, Lindsays and Peatties all from Pittenweem. I also have Nicols ( is it possible this was changed from Nicholson). Do Andrew and Margaret Peattie mean anything to you?

Give me a shout if you think there may be a connection.

Regards

Hi Annette

Here's an abbreviated note of my Wilsons and Lindsays. Nic(h)olson note is below. My only known Peattie/Pattie is as above.

Margaret Wilson (b1774 Carnbee) daughter of Alexander Wilson and Elizabeth Paton from Carnbee, married David Nicolson (b1774 St Monans) 15/7/1801 in Pittenweem. I descend from this pair. My only Wilsons, I think! One of my very major brick walls is finding the parents/siblings of David.

The first lot of Lindsays come via Magdalen Lindsay from Kilrenny who married John Nicolson. Her parents were James Lindsay who married Elizabeth Greig on 22/2/1800 in Kilrenny. I've only just started to go back on this line, as it is not a direct line to me. I think this family of Lindsay originate in Dunino.

My second lot of Lindsays come from the northeast (Banchory-Devenick)and Edinburgh.

As far the Nic(h)olson/Nicol change of spelling, I think it is feasible. I've found that one lot of Nicolsons (in Pittenweem) spelled the name one way, and the ones from Kilrenny spelled in Nicholson.

It would be brilliant to find someone else who is related, but I don't think it's looking too hopeful!

Hi again Liz

 Afraid none of that info you gave relates to me at present. My Lindsays originated in St Monance and eventually spread out across the East Neuk and some moved on to Dundee.

Never mind - better luck next time.

Regards
