I am hoping to find more information on the Mcarthurs from Argyll. This is what I have:
- Donald/Daniel Mcarthur and Flora OLynachan/Lynachan were married. I think they had the following children:
-(1) Kathrine/Cathrine Mcarthur, b- 29 Nov 1813/1815, while parents were living in Southend parish
- (2) Isobel Mcarthur, b-19 March 1816 while parents were living in Southend parish
- (3) Niel McArthur, b- 16 April 1818 while parents were living at a village or farm named Edin in the Southend parish
- (4) Flora Mcarthur, b- 23 March 1822/1824 while parents were living in Southend parish
- (5) David Mcarthur, b- 11 December 1826 while parents were living at Kilblaan
- (6) Agness Mcarthur, b- 19 Jul 1831 while parents were living in Southend parish
- (7) James Mcarthur, b unknown
I believe that (1)Catharine/Kathrine married Robert Anderson in Canada in 1842
I believe that (3) Niel was in Princeton Illinois and married Ruth Galer in 1846
I believe that (5)David married Martha Montgomery around 1852, had a son named Thomas Montgomery Mcarthur and left for Canada around 1854.
I believe that (4) Flora married Allen McNeilage in Campbeltown in 1852
I found a Flora (perhaps Niels mother – Flora OLynachan/Lynachan) living with Niel in the 1860 census = Flora Mcarthur living in - Center, Bureau, IL age-67 born 1792 Scotland Female
Confusing but somewhat clear.
I am looking for-
The Donald/Daniel – Flora Mcarthur Family in the 1841 or 1851 Census from Argyll.
Any records of baptism/birth for children
Marriage record for Donald/Daniel and Flora
Passenger lists of leaving Scotland and going to Canada
Even more…. Someone else researching this family :}
I live in Washington USA so researching the archives in the Highlands is not possible.
Thanks

Oh YES !! that sounds like my family. Thank you so very much for the information.
I will follow up with the census. This has been a two year hunt to try to unit David Mcarthur and Niel Mcarthur. I finally have the breakthru I need to link the familys here in the US.
Again, you are wonderful - thank you. Hopefully I can be of some help in return !!

Do you know who Flors's Parents were? Flora is pretty common name in my Langs alll the wat back to the early 1800s in Southend

I don't know anything more about Donald and Flora. I need to get a copy of their marriage document to see if anything was listed on that. I didn't catch the Eden connection either... thanks !
I just recently found out that the David and Martha Mcarthur family left Scotland and landed in New York before heading to Canada. This was 1852.
If anyone has more information on the family I would love to talk to you. I am looking for the death of Donald in Scotland. I’m pretty sure that Flora was found living with son Niel in Missouri in 1860 census.
