JESSIE BROWN.....

Post by MoiraB » Thu Jul 06, 2006 2:49 pm

I am trying to trace JESSIE BROWN. Please does anyone have a JESSIE BROWN in their family tree who would fit the description. 'My' Jessie was born around 1918-19. She worked as a domestic servant in London and Watford, Hertfordshire, around 1938-1940. The last I can find her is staying at a Shelter in Watford 'because of the bombs'. (the trains couldn't run??) She may have returned to Scotland or anywhere!!!! I have been trying to trace this person for many years without success. Please check your trees and see if she's in there. Thankyou.

Hi Moira
...and a warm welcome to Talking Scot :D

My, that looks like a tough one - do you have any idea what part of Scotland she was born in or where she may have lived in Scotland?

Do you know happen to know who her parents were? It may be possible, if she was born in Scotland to track her down by checking births for the year range you mention at NRH but I'm not sure how you would know you had got the right one? Also, with the name of Jessie, she may have been Janet at birth.

Best wishes
Lesley

Thankyou for the reply.

Sadly I don't have much information about JESSIE BROWN. That is why I am hoping that someone will find her in their tree.!! :(

She lived in Watford and London, and was born around 1918-19.
I do have a 'list' of Jessies, but as you said, how will I know when I have the correct one!!. I am relying on someone recognising the description. There could be a connection to the names Elizabeth and Moira. I have tried just about everything I know to find this woman. I will keep trying and one of these days she'll turn up, (I hope).

.........and who knows, one day I might win the lottery too!!!!!
